


Manama, Bahrain – 8 October 2026: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court and Chairman of the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) Board of Directors, HE Khalid Humaidan, Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), participated in the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Climate Forum, organized by the CBUAE in Abu Dhabi.
During a keynote speech delivered at the opening ceremony, HE the Governor highlighted the growing impact of climate change on financial stability, underscoring the role of central banks and regulatory authorities in strengthening the financial services sector’s preparedness to manage climate-related risks and support sustainable finance practices.
HE also outlined the Kingdom of Bahrain’s climate action efforts, including its target of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 and its wider environmental and development objectives.
HE the Governor further stressed that regional cooperation and knowledge sharing are essential pillars for building more resilient financial systems and developing practical frameworks to integrate climate considerations into financial and monetary policies.
The Forum brought together central bank governors, regulatory authorities, financial institutions, policymakers and leading experts to examine the financial implications of climate change and approaches to supporting a sustainable economy.
The CBUAE Climate Forum serves as a regional platform for strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange on sustainable finance and climate-related risk management, supporting the readiness of financial institutions through the development of relevant regulatory frameworks and banking practices.
