CBB participates in WEF Publication

Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain – 14 December 2020 – Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) Inspection Directorate employee Noora Hassan Abdulghani has concluded the term 2019-2020 of her membership with the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Future Council on Financial and Monetary Systems.

In October 2020, Ms. Abdulghani participated in authoring a whitepaper published by WEF, on the Post COVID-19 Financial System, which highlighted how the financial system has rapidly adapted to the crisis. The piece authored by Ms. Abdulghani, drew examples from Bahrain and other MENA countries where the regulatory responsiveness and the financial sector’s digital readiness facilitated rapid adoption to the needs of customers. The essay also shed light on the opportunities and challenges of the use of technologies accelerated by the crisis which are anticipated to become an integral part of the financial and monetary system after COVID-19.

Mrs. Abdulghani’s participation represents the professional skill set and outstanding performance of Bahraini youth, and their ability to participate in such high-level meetings.

The Global Future Councils (GFCs) is the world’s largest expert-level and foremost interdisciplinary knowledge network dedicated to promoting innovative thinking to shape a sustainable and inclusive future for all. It is an invitation-only community organized by the UAE Government in partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF) where two co-chairs lead each of the 38 councils comprised of 20-25 leading experts from academia, government, international organizations, business, and civil society.
